My name is Samantha Walsh and I am a professional photographer born and raised in Burnley, Lancashire. Simply put, I work as a freelance photographer and love to take photographs and make websites for small businesses and entrepreneurs across the UK. I specialise in wedding photography, fine art photography, portrait photography, family photographer, documentary photography, event photography and pole and aerial photography.
I started my degree in Drawing and Image Making at Preston UCLAN in 2010 and took a year off in 2012 to have my second daughter. On returning I I found that my artistic path had changed. I didn’t want to draw anymore, I wanted to take photographs. Alongside studies in documentary photography I undertook some free work to grow my portfolio and gain experience. In July 2015 I graduated with a BA Hons degree in Fine Art, Drawing and Image Making and soon after I set up Samantha Jane Image Making. This was commercial work covering weddings, chirstwenings, birthdays, parties, events, portraits, family photography and aerial and pole photography.
I love what I do and will try most things, whether I’m capturing your wedding day or covering an event, or providing documentary photography, I can say I’m primarily interested in everyday, incidental occurrences and random moments that generally pass us by. I like to work freely, capturing these candid moments as well as deliver any formal shots you require – I like to make a record of personalities at unexpected moments in time.
I initially started making websites in 2014 to document academic work. Whilst my skill set is still progressing, I like to use my own images and ongoing studies in SEO compliment what I’m doing image wise. I use simple typefaces along with clean layouts to create engaging, online presences which are fully functional and user friendly.
In April 2016 I secured my first professional job working in the Arts – a 6 month contract with Super Slow Way working in close collaboration with resident artist Stephen Turner as official photographer for the Exbury Egg project. I am a tenacious, creative artsy person who’ll work feverishly to get what you want at a realistic price. My ideas will expand over any existing concepts you already have and upon commencing your project I’ll be responsible for delivering a unique, interesting and effective product to you in good time.
